Live at 1010

I am happy to announce the release of my latest record, "Live at 1010." As the title suggests, the 15 song album was recorded live with no overdubs at 1010 Studios in Montecito, CA June 19-21 2014. With Austin Beede on drums and Jon Payne engineering, this work is a culmination of 15 years of live looping.

Recording Session Notes
For me, live looping started with a single Line 6 looping pedal back in 2000. The art has taken a slow road of development filled with trials, mistakes, successes and failure. My approach to music has never been one of caution and there are many wonderful and embarrassing moments forever preserved on YouTube of my unreserved style. That being said, I am happy to say that I am very proud of this work. Although there are small imperfections inherent with a live recording, I feel very satisfied with the overall sound quality, performance, and result.
This approach of recording live is so enjoyable. Although today's standard recording process of spending months overdubbing can produce a perfect product, it has lacked for me the inspiration, fire and aliveness of the live performance. The communication between instruments and spur of the moment decisions and improvisations cannot be duplicated in the overdubbed record. Since I was able to record 20 songs (15 of which made the cut) in three days, I feel inspired to do it again and again using it as an opportunity to share the music that comes through me with the world.
The album is currently available for free on the music page of this website or by clicking the button above. Your welcome to give a donation in exchange for the download but it is not required. This is a labor of love and more about sharing my art rather than making money.
I planned to video the entire session, so that the live looping approach I use could be seen and understood by the listener. I was able to capture almost 8 of the songs in their entirety. These videos are posted above for your enjoyment. Also included on this page are photos from the session, song lyrics, as well as the liner notes from the CD. If you are interested in a hard copy of this album, please feel free to contact me.
